Julianne's Room

Since I spent last week in quarantine, away from baby girl, I decided to work on her room decor to make myself feel a little closer to her. So, I gathered some things on Amazon and added some personal touches. The thing that inspired me to do this wasn’t just the spare time on my hands but the poem my mom sent me. This was a poem that she wrote for Julianne during the first few months of her life. If you haven’t followed our story for long, you might not know that in Julianne’s first 2 months after birth, she had a fracture every single week. To say our faith was tested during this time, would be an understatement. My mom, the sweetest woman in the world, was there every step of the way, rocking Julianne to sleep, holding me together on the hard days, and through every other high and low moment. She spent 6 months sleeping on Julianne’s nursery chair at night. (There’s a whole other world of stories I could tell about Abuelita’s part in our story but I’ll save that for another day).

When she told me that she wrote this poem about that time, I just thought that was so special. I was also kind of surprised that I never knew my love for writing and expression through writing was something I inherited from her. Like mother, like daughter. It gets me thinking that one day, Julianne will show little sparks of traits she carried on from me, and from her Abuelita, and I think that having these little details saved for her will mean a lot.

Here are all the things that I was able to find and put together, along with links to the original pieces we used to get her room started:
